"To photograph is to preserve the moment against the assault of time."
- Susan Sontag
This video was commissioned to take the place of a eulogy during a funeral service. We were able to tell a story through the use of our client’s photographs, matching various periods in the loved one’s life with suitable music and sound effects. The deceased had requested a poem to be read at the funeral, which we recorded as part of the video.
This video was used to supplement the eulogy during a funeral service. The client was only able to find recent photographs of the deceased, so we focused on showcasing the extent of his social network of friends and family, using the limited assets provided.
This video was shown as people were entering and leaving a funeral service, with a soundtrack written by the son of the deceased. Some of the older photos provided were very low resolution, but allowed us to put together a chronological sequence of photographs right up until the Loved One’s 100th birthday and beyond.
My dad had a very full and varied life, and luckily we had a ton of photos going right back to the 1950s.
What Rob did was amazing, using different sound tracks for each different phase of my father’s life, and giving the impression that the photo slide show was like a video of my dad’s whole life. Eva at Plum Roll Productions also read the poem requested in my dad’s will.
The video gave the people in attendance a far more rounded picture of my dad than just the one facet of him that they themselves knew.

My mother wanted a very traditional funeral in her local Catholic church featuring prayer, readings and music.
I was looking for a way to represent her life in a way that would supplement the religious service, and so I asked Plum Roll Productions to produce a video presentation to be shown as people were entering and leaving the church.
I was delighted that Rob was able to sequence the photos in such a way that they followed the entire lifeline of my mother, whilst including those little professional touches that showed that care and thought had been put into the presentation. Rob was very patient and understanding as other members of my family made last-minute additions to our photo collection right up until the week of the funeral.

When my best friend of 60 years died recently, it fell to me to arrange his funeral.
He was a huge fan of contemporary music and it was important for me to reflect that in the humanist ceremony. Between the readings and eulogies, we included a 3 minute photo slideshow, set to Adele’s “Make Me Feel My Love”.
I loved the way Rob managed to time the change of photos to the beat of the music, it felt very immersive, and we had lots of comments about the video afterwards.

My father recently passed away and I planned the funeral service.
I had used Rob at Plum Roll Productions previously, for video tours of properties that I was looking to rent out, so I immediately thought of him when my sister suggested a video tribute as part of my father’s funeral ceremony.
I had a Zoom call with Rob, and we discussed how to use the photos and some old film footage for the perfect video tribute.
Rob sent me back the finished article within 48 hours, and although he invited us to suggest revisions, I felt he had cracked it on the very first attempt.
